Josiah is a competitor through and through, and one of his favorite things to do in the evening after Jeff comes home from work is to fight him.
Yes, fight him.
It could be fighting with lightsabers, or with toy swords, or even on the chess board; but for some reason, Josiah delights in matching his strength and wits against his dad's. Josiah doesn't ask to fight me, maybe because he already knows what my answer would be. ;-)
Recently Jeff got some dowel rods for the boys which they use for--what else?--fighting. Josiah had been asking Jeff to please fight with him (because apparently the other boys aren't challenging enough for him, and he needed some stiff competition), so on this particular evening, Jeff did.
And Josiah loved it. I mean, LOVED IT! :)
A couple of dowel rods, a grassy lawn, a warm evening, a still-nicely-dressed-from-work daddy, a son whose love tank is filled by quality time = a perfect battle. Ah, male bonding at its finest!
Men sure are different from women! (And all the women are nodding their heads and thinking, "Uh huh! You got that right!" And the men are thinking, "Different? We're the normal ones around here!") ;-) I love God's plan for male-female uniqueness. ;-)

That last picture needs to be framed in Josiah's room. Love it. :)
