When Josiah Was Half as Old as He Is Now...

...he took his first class through a local community college's summer enrichment classes for kids.  I look back at this post and smile as I remember that five-year-old and his little two-year-old brother.

The following year (2008), Josiah took another class there (an art one); and that year, he was joined in the picture by two younger brothers.  2009 brought us a new baby, our dearly loved Shav; and I suppose that with a due date in July, I knew better than to try to predict when the baby would be born and when I would be available to transport anyone to classes, so we skipped that year.  In 2010, both Josiah and David got to take a class - a robotics class for Josiah (which is highly-sought-after and fills up quickly every year, but which he actually did not enjoy very much) and a Teddy Bears, Trains, and More class for David (which was basically stories and fun activities for kindergarten/first grade level).  I briefly mentioned their classes in this blog post.  We planned for them to again take classes in 2011, but this post details how my well-laid summer plans for that year were derailed by God's greater purposes (although Josiah did get to participate in a basketball camp which was part of the community college's summer program).  And that brings us to this year!  :)

Josiah took a pottery class and actually got to use the wheel to make quite a few pieces, as well as learning about painting, glazing, and forming pieces by hand.  He completely loved it.  David took a class called Open the Door, Let's Explore; and today at the end-of-class presentation, I got a chance to see what all they've learned and done.  I was impressed.
But what really stands out to me is this picture taken today...
...compared to this one from 2007.
A lot has changed in the past five years.  Josiah has doubled in age, both he and David have grown and developed and matured so much; but most significantly, three additional siblings have been born into our family.  The record of these summer classes is a record of the growth of our family!  :)

What a treasure to be the mother of these children!
