One Big Adventure for One Getting-Big Boy

When we went to the homeschool convention last year, some generous friends kept the oldest three boys for us, and we took Shav who was still a nursing infant.  This year, however, those friends have other plans for this weekend (and we certainly don't expect that those friends will keep the boys in the future...they are wonderful friends, but it's A LOT to add young, active boys into a family!).  :)  So what to do?

Fortunately, Josiah and David are old enough to participate in the children's program at the convention; so they came with us.  Shav is still young enough to be fairly easily contained in a stroller, so that his little hands don't grab everything in the exhibit hall and used curriculum sale--and so that he doesn't get lost in the crowd! But what to do with Tobin?

Enter Grandpa & Grandma!
They are hosting him while we're gone, and he has the privilege of being their first overnight guest in their "new" home!  On Thursday, I took him down to their house and we made up his sleeping-bag bed on the floor of their guest room.  He had chosen a lion puppet to be his stuffed animal companion there, so he tucked him in to wait until Tobin returned a day later to spend the night.  He got to pack a Lightning McQueen backpack with "bahmies" (his version of "pajamas") and a change of clothes and--best of all--a new toothbrush and tube of toothpaste!  We talked about the toys he would get to play with at Grandma & Grandpa's house, and the books they could read to him, and maybe a movie they could watch together.  What a big adventure for a three-year-old!  We are so grateful for my parents being willing to help us out in this way.
I know Tobin is in good hands, but I can hardly wait to get my hands on him and wrap him up in a great big bear hug.

A Tobin Bear hug.

Yeah, I've been missing him.  ;-)
