When Kate Middleton gave birth to the future king of England on July 22, 2013, the official announcement that was posted by the gates of Buckingham Palace said this: "Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24 p.m. today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
Safely delivered of a son.
I had never heard that phrasing before (maybe because I'm not British?) :), and I instantly admired it. "Maybe someday," I thought longingly, "I could use that to announce the birth of my child."
Thanks be to God, the time has come!
With overflowing joy, I proudly declare that today at 2:44 a.m. I was safely delivered of a son we named Benjamin Caleb Fisher! He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, measured 19 and 3/4 inches in length, and is absolutely perfect. My heart and soul are full of joyous song and quiet contentment as we snuggle in together and get to know each other. What a son! What a gift! What a treasure!!
