It wasn't really a big deal and certainly wasn't significant enough for me to go out and buy such a dress; but in a corner of my heart, I was wishing that she could have one so we could continue the tradition. "It doesn't matter," I would tell myself, then catch myself wanting it again.
And then a wondrous thing happened: on December 11, which happened to be Jeff's birthday, he took us and his co-workers and all of their families out for our annual barber shop Christmas dinner; and while we were there, one of his co-workers who has a little girl a bit younger than Moriah came to me and wondered aloud if the dress she was holding in her hands would fit Moriah since it was too small for her daughter.
Lo and behold, it was a fancy red dress.
What's more, it fit Moriah.

All the time, I know this is true. But once in a while, God does a little something extra to drive home the point.
Like the unexpected gift of a little red Christmas dress for my girl. :)

Yes! I love those Jehovah Jireh moments where the hug from heaven is FELT and we feel SEEN. What a beautiful little girl in a beautiful red dress with her beautiful mama.
That is really special! What makes this even more exciting to me is that Marie (I think it's her size) has a red dress exactly like that one! She doesn't wear it in the winter because it has short sleeve, but she has other red outfits for Christmas. Next time I am thinning out our little girl dress supply, I will try to remember to check with you and see if there is a particular color/size/style you are longing for!
