Why I Love Our Homeschooling Lifestyle #2

When Josiah was seven years old, he was reading Tolkien.  Not a kids' version.  The real deal.  See?

Tobin is eight now, and it's only been within the last six months or so that reading has begun to click for him (the beginning of that story can be found here).  He picked up Little Bear recently and was so happy to be able to read that.  Two of his younger siblings were happy to listen.  :)

Because we homeschool, there is no label of "late reader" applied to Tobin.  No stigma.  No shame that must be carried like a heavy burden on his shoulders, hindering his progress in the future.  No remedial classes.  No special group.  Instead, we celebrate his accomplishments, just like we strive to notice and celebrate the unique accomplishments of each of our children.

That's just one of the wonderful things about homeschooling.  :)
