Every time Jeff's mom comes to visit, she brings gifts.
From her first visits to us in Virginia years ago, when she would come with pieces of train track and various engines for our Thomas the Tank Engine set stuffed in her suitcase, until now, she never comes empty-handed. Even when we tell her, "Don't worry about gifts; all we want is you!", she still brings bountiful gifts and blesses us with her generosity.
The best part? She's an expert yard-sale shopper, so the things she brings these days are amazing bargains. It's so much fun to hear her say "I got that for a dollar!" or "I only spent a quarter on that!" as she passes out her presents for us. :)
This time she brought costumes for the boys: a Spiderman one, a Jedi outfit, a Star Wars Bounty Hunter (which Tobin still calls "Bouncy Hunter," to my great delight), a Ninja. She also brought some Superman and Batman pajamas, which Tobin and Shav quickly claimed; and today she gave the boys a whole big bunch of puppets and a puppet-stage cloth cut-out thing-a-ma-jigger that they can use when they perform puppet shows. The boys have already had a ball with those things, and I know many happy hours are in store for them as they play with those creativity-inspiring gifts. :)
For me, she brought some clothes she picked up here and there at yard sales, and the same for Moriah. (Except her pile of clothes for Moriah was quite a bit bigger than mine...which is as it should be...) :) She found the cutest little outfits for her newest granddaughter, and I'm not sure who will get the most pleasure from them: the one who bought them, or the one who gets to dress sweet Moriah in them. :)
Another gift she brought for Moriah is this...
...an adorable little stuffed dog, with a bright scarf around his neck.
Moriah's already made friends with him...
...cuddling with him, letting him share her swing, slobbering all over him, trying to shove his whole head in her mouth. You know, the usual. ;)
When Grandma Fisher comes, it's always a treat to see what she brought with her, and we are blessed by the thoughtfulness she displays as she has us on her mind when she goes to yard sales in far-off California.
But the very best gift she ever brings is invariably and undoubtedly...
...HERSELF! ;)
