I found this bit of syrupy sweetness lurking in my email inbox as I was trying to clean it out; and since Mother's Day is tomorrow, it seems like a good weekend to be a little sentimental. :) Somebody sent this to me more than five years ago; it's about time I did something with this and didn't just let it clutter up my inbox! Of course, I have no way of validating whether Rebecca, age 8, really said the quote attributed to her, or whether Billy, age 4, the one attributed to him, etc. But that's not really the point, is it? It's just to make us smile...
What Does Love Mean?
answers by children, ages 4 - 8
When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis, too. That's love.
~ Rebecca, age 8

Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss.

You really shouldn't say "I love you" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing. I just helped him cry."
I could add my own "Love Is" to this list. Actually, I could add quite a few of them; but how about just one for tonight?
Love is four laughing boys in a tub and a daddy who, although tired from a long day at work, gives of himself to make bath time a delight for his sons!

I love that picture, and I think it's so wonderful that Jeff does the baths for you. I work very, very hard to make bathtime smooth over here, and it's a lot of work. Paul is a toughie to bathe due to his extreme dislike of water on his face or ears, or even having them wet. Anyway, it's usually easiest if I just handle the baths because I know the routine that works the best for him. Having said all that, the baths are the part of caring for children that I like the least. Therefore, I completely agree that this is a picture of love.
Also, from one mother to another, Happy Mother's Day!
Too much fun is going on in that tub!
Happy Mother's Day!
ah I am siting here in tears from this one quote...
When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.
