...are perhaps best learned while manning a lemonade stand.
My boys got to experience this today...
...although they weren't really earning money for themselves.
Josiah's been raising money for upcoming trips with his children's choir...
...and today we got to add $27.60 to his fund (which is honestly more than I expected to make off of some cookies and lemonade)! :)
And my boys learned an important lesson: the more lemonade you drink yourself, the less money you make.
Because nobody pays you if you drink your own lemonade. ;-)
We were delighted to stop by and take in the lemonade and cookie bars! I am interested in hearing how the proceeds come to 27.60 when everything costs fifty cents. Maybe that's the figure after discounting the costs. Anyway, I'm sure Josiah has it figured out!
ReplyDeleteSally, that is a very good point!! I'm not sure how it came to $27.60! Either somebody handed the boys one too many dimes, or the boys didn't give the proper change, or something. I certainly hope nobody got ripped off!! :) But when we took out the amount of the money we had put in the box for making change, what was left was clearly $27.60. Haha! :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we let the boys keep all the money from it and did not deduct for costs. We figured that the cost of flour, sugar, chocolate chips, etc. (and cups, lemonade mix, and butter from my parents!) could be our donation to their efforts. :) It increases their profits considerably when they don't have to deduct those costs. :)
Thanks again for stopping by; we really appreciate it!!! :)
What wonderful summertime fun! And some good lessons learned! Do they do mail order? :)
ReplyDeleteGood for them, Davene! So glad they had a successful day with their enterprise :)
