...is so very exciting that it's hard to fall asleep.
Especially when you're two years old (well, two-and-a-half)...
...AND your next oldest brother is sleeping in the bunk just above you! Can we say, PARTY TIME??? ;-)
Moving Shav from the crib in the nursery to this bunk bed in Tobin's room (well, now officially Tobin and Shav's room!) was one of the big projects/transitions I wanted to do long before the baby is born, so that when little sister takes over the crib, Shav won't be alarmed but will be quite used to his new sleeping situation. What better time than tonight to make the switch?
You cannot imagine (well, maybe you can) the jibber-jabber that went on in this room tonight: the calls for "one more hug," the passing back and forth of stuffed animals, the trips to the bathroom, the need for a drink, the pleas to say goodnight to Daddy again, the wails because Shav hit his head on the ladder, the "two-part" singing of "I Want to Be Like Jesus, Deep Down in My Heart," etc. I knew it would take a while for these little munchkins to settle down and fall asleep, so I grabbed a book and sat in my glider rocker across the hall in my room to monitor their activities and remind them occasionally to get in their beds, be quiet, etc. It took about two hours until they were both asleep; and interestingly enough, the same was true of Tobin's first night in this bed in this room, as mentioned here. :) With Tobin, however, he didn't have a brother in this room with him on his first night in a big boy bed, so the exploration and delaying-of-sleep that he did was done alone. Tonight, although I was definitely ready for Shav to fall asleep by the time he finally succumbed, it was sweet to hear his little voice call out at the end, "Bobin? Bobin?"
"Tobin's asleep already," I called across to Shav.
And soon, so was Shav. :)
Shav is so handsome! You are a wise woman to make this change well before the baby comes. We're planning to move Marie over to Hannah's room in the near future so we have that switch out of the way long before our new baby comes.
ReplyDeleteI love the bed! I bet they will have wonderful conversations before bed in that room together.
ReplyDeletePrecious! The memories that will be created in that room for the two of them! I love how he calls Tobin "Bobin"!
ReplyDeleteAwww! Such sweet boys!
