A Picnic on February 1st?

What would be torturous some years was the height of pleasantness today.
Yes, today, on the first day of February, lunch was served outside on the patio...
...to unjacketed, barefoot boys.
We're still hoping for a big snow before spring comes for good; but when days like this come along instead, we're not complaining a bit.  :)

  1. Your boys, particularly David, looks so grown up. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that Shav will be 3 this summer.

(And I still don't know how you manage to have peaceful relaxation so much of the time in your house!)

  2. Oh, Sally, we have our share of chaotic, stressful moments, too! Most of the time, I just choose to highlight the happy times here on the blog; but it's not always peaceful and relaxing. :)

I will say that one of the areas in which God is helping me grow (although it's not so easy to describe or quantify as an area like morning quiet times) is my ability to roll with the punches, be flexible, not get bent out of shape, and and not let the noise and chaos get to me so much. Before Shav was born, I wrote (somewhere in my old blog) about how Tobin controlled the emotional climate in our home (actually, about how I LET him do that); and since then, I've *tried* to be extra aware of that dynamic (i.e. losing my cool when Shav is having a tantrum or whatever) and not succumb to it. Does that even make sense?

  3. So glad you all are taking advantage of the warm weather and in such a delightful way! No jackets or shoes wow! The boys are all so cute in these pictures.

I love arriving to you blog Davene. I always leave feeling inspired and refreshed. I love love LOVE your Valentine themed background. Its beautiful!

I also wanted to let you know I am sorta back in the neighborhood of the blogging world once again. This blog is hosted on my business makeup website, but it is not at all entirely focused on makeup. Its been quite awhile now, but I am very glad to have the time and be at it once again! :D

    Much love Davene.....

  4. Outside??!!! That's amazing... but you're right to enjoy it while you can.

I know what you mean about being taught (slowly, often in my case) to roll with the punches, and to not stress about *loads* of things that used to stress me out. Maybe it's getting older... maybe it's having more kids... Whatever it is, I'm glad for it - and so are my kids ;)

  5. I like this!! After we came inside from our after-lunch outside time yesterday, I decided that if we get another day like that any time soon (before the baby comes), I think I will fix a picnic lunch for Susannah and myself to enjoy outside. I think she would have a blast!

  7. Sigh. It's posts like this that make me miss life there very much! It was mild here yesterday too, but not quite mild enough for bare feet and bare arms!

  9. We are enjoying the warm weather, too. On a few days in January we were able to wear shorts, which was crazy! Today, we have rain. Blessed rain. We are continuing to pray for a re-filling of our lakes and rivers before the coming summer's predicted-to-continue drought.
